Plainfield Symphony Presents: Adventures into the Musical Imagination

This Just In… from the Plainfield Symphony

Join us for a musical journey with returning guest conductor Roger Stubblefield and the Plainfield Symphony as together they venture into the “Adventures into the Musical Imagination” this season’s theme for its free Family Concert.  The acclaimed works of Bagley, Prokofiev and Berloiz will be presented.

Kevin Lee, winner of the 2012 Young Pianist Competition of New Jersey Concerto Division, is the featured soloist and will perform Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in D Flat Major, Op. 10.

Prokofiev’s Lieutenant Kife Suite will be narrated by the “audience-engaging” pianist and composer, Amanda Harberg. Recent performances of Ms. Harberg’s music have been with the National Symphony of Ecuador, the Olympia Philharmonic Society, the Quito Philharmonic, the String Orchestra of the Rockies and the string players from the New Jersey Symphony..

Bagley’s most famous National Emblem March and Berlioz’s Roman Carnival Overture, inspired by his opera Benvenuto Cellini, round out the afternoon’s performance.

The concert takes place on Saturday March 23, 2013 at 3 p.m. at the Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church, 716 Watchung Ave. in Plainfield, New Jersey and is FREE. Additional information for our remaining  2012-2013 season concerts can be found on our website www.plainfieldsymphony.org.
